Student of the Week: Creative Writing Challenge
Welcome to the Student of the Week section! Each week, a lucky student gets the chance to be featured by showcasing their creative writing skills. This week, we have a special challenge for you!
Writing Prompt: “You’ll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind.”
—Irish Proverb
This Irish quote teaches us an important lesson: no matter how much we think about something, we can only make real progress by taking action. Whether it's starting a new project, facing a challenge, or making a dream come true, the key is to take that first step.
Your Task:
Write a short story (300-500 words) inspired by this quote. Your story can be about anything you like, but it must feature a character who is learning this lesson. Perhaps they’re hesitant to try something new, or maybe they struggle with procrastination—until they realize that only by doing can they make progress.
Tips for Writing:
Think about a time when you took action and how it helped you succeed, or a time when you procrastinated and how it held you back.
Imagine a character who learns the value of action, even when the outcome is uncertain.
Your story could take place in any setting: school, a dream world, or even a fantasy land!
Guidelines:
Keep your story between 300 and 500 words.
Use clear and concise language.
Be creative—there’s no limit to where your imagination can take you!
How to Submit:
Submit your story by entering it into the box below. PLease add your name and email address at the end of your story. Our
team will read each submission, and the selected

story featured on this page!
